Its been a long and hard slog for Chris and Tom, the rally starting as a farther son adventure and so far what an adventure its been. But at last the date of departure approaches and Chris and Tom can look forward to spending some quality time together, over the last year they have shared in some very harrowing experiences with Toms illness but now comes the ultimate, sharing the experience of being like 2 sardines in a tin can. I so hope they pack a tin opener and tape it to the outside of the car just in case they need to escape in a hurry. Quite how the Russians will react is beyond me, comic book I suspect.  But underneath now is a well tuned charity fundraising machine, raising much needed funds for the cancer ward that helped Tom.  As well as the mad capped Mongolian Rally, Tom has done the London marathon, there have been auctions, shopping packing, parachute jumps and walks all towards an incredible donation by a great father and son team.  Well done guys and thank you for all the hard work youve put into it. we look forward to seeing the photos!

In our continuing support for one of our favourite charities – The Born Free Foundation, Dayfield Graphics have taken great pleasure in producing the latest exhibition for the launch of the EU Zoo Inquiry, in Brussels on 24th April 2012.

Acclaimed actress and animal advocate, Virginia McKenna O.B.E, guest speaker at the launch said,
“To date, and despite the European Zoo’s Directive, wild animals in captivity have been largely marginalised. However, I hope this exhibition and the findings of The EU Zoo Inquiry will ensure animals in European zoos are no longer forgotten.”
The spokesperson for the EU Inquiry Daniel Turner, described the study, “It has taken 3 years, evidence from an assessment of 200 zoos in EU countries, direct communications with national governments and a ground-breaking and comprehensive review of national zoo legislation to come to the conclusion that the zoos across Europe are neither meeting expectations nor the legal standard required of them. The EU Zoo Inquiry is the first step towards positive change. Support of the State Governments and the European Commission are vital to ensure enforcement agencies have the means to effectively enforce the law. Many animals in European zoos are suffering needlessly, and without assistance from the European Community the shameful problems we have found are likely to continue.”

At Dayfield Graphics the Born Free Foundation is very close to our hearts. They are doing fantastic work to improve conditions for animals within Zoo’s, around the EU. We hope that in some small way we have helped in the first steps towards positive change by helping to raise awareness of their plight, through our exhibitions.
We hope that the neglect, deprivation and suffering these animals have endured will be replaced with much improved standards to ensure that animals live happier lives, in more stimulating environments and in turn, receive the love and care that they greatly deserve!
We wish the Born Free Foundation every success with their latest investigation.

We are delighted yet again to be involved in an exciting £100 million development for Lichfield city centre.  As you can see from the picture Dayfield produced large graphic panels presenting high impact images showing exactly what the proposed development offers.

Harrison Friarsgate

The main purpose of the two-day exhibition was to get local people’s opinions on the proposed scheme.  Which will include department store, shops, restaurants, cafes, new offices, apartments, a new state-of-the-art cinema and improved car parking.

It was a hugely successful event with over 500 visitors.  Feedback was extremely positive with people recognising the benefit which the scheme will bring to the local economy.

Our fantastic clients from Driftwood Bed and Breakfast were kind enough to offer a luxury weekend away for our very own Managing Director Martin and his lovely wife Andrea. The lucky pair jetted off to the relaxing retreat in the beautiful coastal village of Rhosneigr, on the west coast of Anglesey, North Wales.

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the area offers great opportunities for tranquil strolls on the beach, with the Isle of Anglesey coastal path just three minutes walk away, offering stunning walks along the 125 miles coastal path around the Island. And although not necessarily an appeal for our lovely colleagues on their romantic getaway, or the warmest time of the year (mid-November), Rhosneigr is an amazing setting for water sports enthusiasts, surfers and divers.

Driftwood B&B offers immaculate and comfortable en-suite rooms and our Dayfield colleagues found their stay very pleasurable in the luxurious ‘Sunset Room’, complete with fabulous sea views. They thoroughly enjoyed their freshly cooked Welsh Breakfast using local produce and our twosome was even presented with delicious complimentary homemade biscuits on their arrival. Commenting on how the owners Rachel and Wendy went out of their way to make them feel at home and with the thoughtful personal touches shown, Driftwood B&B is most certainly a lovely and welcoming place to stay.

The location could not be beaten in terms of its beautiful coastal scenery and there are a number of great local restaurants within a ten minute walk. Martin and Andrea enjoyed some tasty meals out and also commented on how friendly the villagers are. They strongly recommend a visit and had nothing but praise for the serene location, comfortable accommodation and generous hospitality shown. The rest of us in the office could not help but be a little jealous and want to visit there too!

Dayfield offer website design and maintenance as one of our services. We are responsible for the hosting and implementation of Driftwood B&B’s website.

Here at Dayfield we have been thrilled to once again be involved in the ‘All Tooled Up’ Calendar. A calendar full of nude men raising money for others, the story behind this year’s calendar is a story to be heard.

Last year father and son team, Chris and Tom Mason, from North Yorkshire were all set for competing in the 10,000 mile Mongol rally as part of a fundraising campaign to raise money for local charities. The journey was never going to be easy. For several months the Masons had planned their great adventure, in which they would travel thousands of miles in a tiny car across Western Europe, into Poland and through Russia before heading south into Mongolia. Such a grand adventure, however, was forced to be abandoned when Tom was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of 21. He had been studying in the Dutch town of Utrecht as part of a geography degree he was taking at Leeds University when he discovered a lump in his groin. Following surgery, chemotherapy and radiography, Tom has now given his cancer a thorough beating and the Mason’s are back to compete in the 2012 Mongol Rally!

The Rally is one of the world’s true remaining adventures and the event is described in the handbook as “10,000 miles of adventuring bliss through deserts, mountains and steppe tackled in a car your Granny would use for shopping.” Entrants are asked to use a car that is less than ten years old, and that has an engine size of 1 litre or not much more. No definitive route is given and they are warned before they set out that once they hit the road, they are on their own. Definitely sounds like a crazy adventure. They have submitted their entry forms and bought a 1.2-litre Daihatsu Cuore for the bargain price of £750 (which could prove a bit tight for the 6’5″ and 6’7″ duo!) The rally starts in July 2012. To find out more, visit www.theadventurists.com.

This year’s event is again set to raise money for charity, and understandably, the Teenage Cancer Trust. Tom has already completed the Sheffield 10K road race and has entered the 2013 London Marathon as part of his fundraising for a truly worthy cause. To donate, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/masons2mongolia2.

Now back to those nude men. After the success of last year’s nudes calendar, which the Mason’s were involved in, they are at it again! The calendar featuring local men will be launched next month to raise more money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The ‘All Tooled Up’ Naked Calendar 2012 launch night was held on the 18th November at The Blacksmith Arms in Newton on Ouse, where individuals were  able to bid for poster-sized prints (sponsored by Dayfield Graphics) of the calendar in the charity auction.

We at Dayfield Graphics are proud to be associated with such a good cause and wish everybody involved every success. Hats off (and much more) to you all!

The client:

When York-based, award-winning PR and marketing communications consultancy, The Partners Group, decided on a facelift for their office, we were more than happy to help.

The project:

As we were working with one of our long-standing clients, we were keen to create a stylish environment for staff and visiting clients.

To achieve this, we created high-quality, eye-catching graphics mounted on Perspex panels and installed them in the firm’s main meeting room and reception area. As well as making a great impression at the office, the panels showcased some of the firm’s PR, marketing and design projects.

The designs for the display panels set photographs alongside a brief project overview, complemented by client testimonials to reinforce the quality of Partners’ customer service.

To emphasise the impact of the panels further, we installed spotlights that ensured the imagery and graphics stood out.

“Your creative ideas and responsive service meant that this project was completed quickly and with no fuss. We’re thrilled with the results.” says Karen Nixon (Partners Director).

Our service:

With a huge selection of display products, we can provide and install promotional graphics to meet your business requirements in a range of finishes and sizes. Please contact us or visit our Store to find out more about our products and services.
